We’ve been a broken record. You wanted to request an SUV to fit all your friends/snowboards/mariachis. You wanted a cheaper ride. We said, “we’re working on it, hang in there!” Tomorrow, July 4th, 2012, we’re singing a different tune. We’re giving you the freedom to choose your vehicle and we have three options:
UberX
In San Francisco, we’re rolling out hybrid vehicles at a lower price point than our standard black car service. Initially UberX will be invite only. It saddens us to not be able to give it out to everyone, but we want to make sure we can provide an Uber experience at every price point and as we increase our UberX supply, we’ll roll it out to more people. To get in on the UberX action, be sure to sign up for our waitlist.
Black
Our standard black car service. Choose this option and a high-end sedan or SUV will be curbside in minutes. We guarantee that cars in this option will seat up to 4 people. Note: if you choose Black and are picked up by an SUV, the pricing for the Black option will apply.
SUV
The big dogs. SUVs will seat up to 6 people – now your 5th wheel doesn’t have to take their own Uber!
To choose what type of vehicle you want, you’ll need to use our iPhone or Android apps. At the top of the map, select the type of vehicle you want. Set your pickup location, hit request and that’s it! As usual, you’ll receive a text letting you know that your driver is on the way, and another when the driver has arrived. You can view our rates at anytime by selecting the car types icon in the top right corner.
