Sometimes Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman needs UberBLACK to pick him up from an awards dinner or a ziMS Foundation fundraiser—but most of the time he just needs a clean, comfortable ride to work! So this afternoon Zimmerman opted for a casual commute that had all the bases covered: better, faster, and cheaper than a taxi.

That’s right, uberX has officially
arrived in the nation’s capital!

As our “Rider Zero,” Zimmerman took the inaugural uberX DC trip to Nats Park in a brand new Toyota Camry hybrid with his driver, Peter. Whether it’s a trip to the ballpark or the grocery store, uberX is the low-cost ride of choice for this walk-off home run hero.

THE DETAILS

WHAT IS uberX?
uberX is our low-cost option, combining the same great Uber quality and commercially licensed drivers you’re used to with prices cheaper than a taxi. On uberX you’ll find a mix of hybrid and mid-range cars—such as the Prius and Toyota Camry—in a variety of styles, with seating for up to four people.

WHAT ARE THE RATES?
With no fees for extra passengers, stops, or luggage, you can expect an uberX trip to be cheaper than a standard taxi.

WHEN AND WHERE CAN I REQUEST uberX?
uberX is available starting right now throughout the DC area, including Northern Virginia and Maryland, and will operate 24/7. Please keep in mind that uberX is still in beta mode and availability will be limited at first, but we encourage you to open up the app and give it a try.

Need any more convincing? Just ask our Rider Zero, Ryan Zimmerman!
